When I was first diagnosed with Crohn's disease, I did quite a bit of reading to help me better
understand what my doctors were telling me. Naturally, as a computer geek I also did a ton of
research on the Internet and was surprised to find that, although there were quite a few sites that
had information about IBD, many of them were either out-of-date, difficult to navigate, targeted at
health professionals or sponsored (and in my mind biased) by drug companies. I was looking to find a
sort of Yahoo! for IBD which I found just did not exist. As I recuperated I began to build
IBDanswers.com.
This site is an active community for patients of IBD. We focus primarily on content and
collaboration for newly diagnosed patients and existing patients alike. Note the emphasis here
on the patient. Although, we may occasionally provide detailed medical advice it will always be
provided in a way that will be of value to the patient. If there is something that confuses you
or you just do not understand then be sure to let us know.
We strive to keep this site as interactive as possible. Members are encouraged to contribute
articles about any topic related to IBD. These articles are reveiwed and then published for all
members to read.
