Why did you create this site?
When I was first diagnosed with Crohn's disease, I did quite a bit of reading to
help me better understand what my doctors were telling me. Naturally, as a computer
geek I also did a ton of research on the Internet and was surprised to find that,
although there were quite a few sites that had information about IBD, many of them
were either out-of-date, difficult to navigate, targeted at health professionals or
sponsored (and in my mind biased) by drug companies. I was looking to find a sort of
Yahoo! for IBD which I found just did not exist. As I recuperated I began to build
IBDanswers.com.
Who are you?
I am a 40-something computer geek living in Silicon Valley. I work for a software
company in the area of product marketing and product management. I was diagnosed with
Crohn's disease in August 2001. The disease knocked me out of commission for almost a
year but through the support of friends and family, good doctor's care and medication
my Crohn's is in remission and I hope to keep it there.
